Postsecondary Schools and State Authorization
Announcements
In 2023, Utah passed a new law repealing and replacing the Utah Postsecondary School and State Authorization Act. Starting January 1, 2024, postsecondary schools identified under the statute are required to be registered with the Division.
For those postsecondary schools with current registrations, please review the expiration date listed in the most recent Certificate of Registration issued by the Division.
For those schools that have not previously registered, but are required under law, the Division has provided a grace period: postsecondary schools must be registered by August 1, 2024.
After August 1, 2024, unregistered postsecondary schools may be subject to administrative fines of up to $250 per day for operating without an effective registration certificate
The Postsecondary School and State Authorization Act requires postsecondary schools to register, unless the postsecondary school meets one of the statutory exemptions. Please review the Postsecondary School and State Authorization Act and Rules to determine whether the postsecondary school needs to register with the Division. The link to the application and associated forms are located in the "Apply for Registration" tab on the left.
