A Transportation Network Company (TNC) may not operate in Utah unless the company is registered with the division under the Transportation Network Company Registration Act.
The Transportation Network Company Registration Act defines a TNC as an entity that
- uses a software application to connect a passenger to a transportation network driver providing transportation network services;
- is not:
- a taxicab as defined in Utah Code §53-3-102; or
- a motor carrier as defined in Utah Code §72-9-102; and
- does not own, control, operate, or manage the vehicle used to provide the transportation network services.
