SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The Utah Division of Consumer Protection (Division) is hosting the 2025 Consumer Protection Symposium on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The symposium brings together state and federal regulators, legal experts, and industry professionals to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing consumers and businesses.
The symposium, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., features a distinguished lineup of speakers and panelists from both public and private sectors. Utah Attorney General Derek Brown will deliver a keynote address. After lunch, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion with Federal Trade Commissioner Melissa Holyoak and Margaret Busse, the Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce, on technology policy at both the state and federal levels. Additional panels scheduled for the day include:
- Responding to State and Federal Agencies – an inside look at the process of government investigations that discusses best practices for compliance and investigation response
- Using Artificial Intelligence in Chatbot Companions – a crucial discussion on using AI in chatbot companions, examining the ethical and regulatory evolution of AI within a legal framework
- Combating Construction Fraud – a discussion of the priorities of the newly established construction fraud task force, established in response to excessive consumer losses in the industry
The event will be held in the Alpine Ballroom at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center, located at 255 South West Temple Street.
