Advisory for Business Registrants: Important Mail Alert

July 1, 2025

Attention Business Registrants,

The Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Corporations and Commercial Code (Division) wants to inform Utah business owners about a potentially misleading mailer currently in circulation. Recently, there have been reports of letters being sent that include QR codes directing recipients to a website that closely resembles our official business registration page. This third-party site attempts to charge users $175 for business renewal services.

Important Guidelines:

1. Only Use Our Official Portal: To ensure your security, always start your business registration or renewal process at our official site: https://corporations.utah.gov.

2. Recognize the Signs of Misleading Communication: If you receive a letter or email with a QR code or link requesting payment, please exercise caution. These communications may direct you to a site that is not affiliated with our office.

3. If You Visit the Deceptive Site: If you have accidentally clicked through to this unauthorized portal and find it challenging to return to our legitimate site, you may need to clear your browser’s cache and history to regain access to the official portal.

If you suspect you have encountered misleading information or have had issues related to these mailers, please report it to the Division of Corporations through their email corpucc@utah.gov.

Stay vigilant and ensure that you are using only verified and trusted channels for your business dealings.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
